Maine Pride Miniatures is a small three generation family farm raising quality miniature horses and miniature Southdown Babydoll sheep. We have been raising miniatures for six years in the heart of Central Maine in Vassalboro a small community on the outskirts of the Maine State capitol of Augusta. We have based our Miniature horse program on Buckeroo and Gold Melody Boy bloodlines and now are assembling some quality mares that we believe will compliment our special boys.
Our other miniature venture began this year with the purchase of 2 Southdown Babydoll ewes and a ram and next spring we hope to have our first Babydoll lambs of our own breeding.
Our miniature family consists of Robert and Anita Gerard and our daughter Jodi-Lyn Sleeper and her children Mikaela and Edward and at last count sixteen miniature horses. We made sure before we purchased any miniature horses that there would be generations to care for them in the event that they outlived us since a miniature’s lifespan can be up to 30 years with proper care and nutrition and we aren’t getting any younger.
I would be negligent however to not mention the rest of our family, our son Bob and his lady Vicki and their children Sam, Kym, and Stephanie and Jodi’s husband Ronnie and their other son Cody and though they aren’t as horse crazy as the rest of us, all have been enlisted to help at certain times when needed and all have willingly done so.
